Au Bon Pain

Since I was a freshman I've been going here. I'm starting to think it's just because I've been conditioned to eat there. It's simple and the location is convenient. However, I think I'm finally fed up with the poor service. It's a game and a lot of luck. It really depends on which server takes the freshly stacked orders from the plate. Sometimes they'll flip the orders up, showing the bottom order first (this is the correct order). Other times, they'll just take from the top, so the most recent order (technically last in queue) is prepared first.

Washington Inn

We stayed here once during Inauguration – never again. The inn is small (which of course doesn’t make it bad), but the since it’s tight quarters in the small building smells from the restaurant seep into every room. That was just the first night, the next morning we took a chance with the “restaurant’s” continental breakfast. It was lack-luster to say the least. Bagels were hard and coffee was cold. Zero service…because hey, speaking English helps. I hope all places in D.C. aren’t like this as I’m about to spend 4 years here. : /

TGIF

I was excited to see a restaurant I recognized from home and food I’m familiar with. Fairly large menus, as the chains usually have, but the lines to get a table are insanely long. For a restaurant so conveniently located on campus, I’d prefer to be seated within 20 minutes. Service was poor once you got a table, rumor has it the waiters that couldn’t cut it at Bertucci’s were hired for TGIF.

Johnny Rockets

A personal favorite of mine. Some of you may say "but I can get that anywhere" or "cheesey" -- yea, if you're talking about their delicious burgers!

Thai Place

I wasn't a big fan of Thai Place. I ordered in with a roommate. He loved his. Apparently, I don't like Thai food. I've heard of this place for the last year now and so many people rave about it, but none actually go there. It's primarily an option when ordering in. It wasn't too expensive (for a place in D.C.), but certainly not worth the stomach problems I experienced shortly after, but to each his own. They did get the order right and they didn't take forever to bring the food over. Two outta three ain't bad...

J Paul's

For some reason, I just never walked in to J Paul's. I always passed by and looked in. It's a shame I waited so long. Great food, great atmosphere, it has easily become one of my favorite eateries in Georgetown. It's an all purpose restaurant -- casual date, sports night, lunch, etc. A+ for J Paul's!

Cafe Asia

I wasn't too impressed with this restaurant. I feel it tried so hard to be chic, but felt more like fast food. Maybe it's because the service was quick and the food sub-par. It's not a bad place if you wanna catch a quick lunch or an early dinner. It can get noisy when the drinks start flowing. I give it a B- at best.

Morton's

The restaurant, if you don’t know, is a franchise. I’m a bit biased because of that. As a franchise I always assume they care more about expanding and brining in more money than the quality of their food. The food and décor were…predictable. However, I was impressed with the service. I didn’t actually buy my meal, so I can’t talk prices Wink.

I used to go to this place all the time with my brother and sister-in-law and they're foodies, so they definitely know the good places. It may not look like much from the outside, or inside for that matter, but the food more than makes up for it. If you want really good, really cheap genuine chinese food, definitely check this place out. It's in Chinatown on H street. Here's the website... http://www.fullkeedc.com/

Luigi's

The place has the best Italian food I've had in DC. The waiters are friendly, the prices are reasonable, and it's in a great location if you want to go drinking after. There are at least 7 bars within 2 blocks. Personally, I love Luigi's atmosphere. They fashion the old Italian style table cloths (red and white checkered)and they don't seem to cater solely to the young adult crowd like so many restaurants in the area. They're probably confidant in bringing all sorts of business with their mouth-watering menu. If you're an Italian lover this place is a must.
